Kimberly Jo's Hot Cocoa

1 - 8 qt. Box Dry Milk
1 - 1 lb. Box NesQuik
1 - 1 lb. Box Powdered Sugar
1 - 6 oz. Cont. Coffee Creamer*
*(you may substitute flavored coffee creamer, if you prefer)

Mix above ingredients and store in an airtight container.
*To serve: Use 1/2 cup mix to 1 mug boiling water. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream
5-Minute Cake in a Cup
(Make sure you use a mug, not a little cup)

Five-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake
4 T flour                    4 T sugar
2T cocoa                    1 egg
3 T milk                    3 T oil
3 T chocolate chips (optional)            small splash of vanilla
1 coffee mug

Put dry ingredients in mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla and mix again.
Microwave for 3 minutes at 1,000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but won’t spill over.
Allow to cool a little, and tip onto a plate if desired.
I am thinking that you could also drizzle some chocolate or caramel syrup over the top and add whipped cream, as well.

To give as a gift:

Mix flour, sugar, cocoa and chocolate chips.  Put in a plastic bag and tie with pretty ribbon.  Include a mug and the following instructions printed on a card:

Mixing Instructions

Put dry ingredients in mug.  Add 1 egg (slightly beaten), 3 Tablespoons of milk, 3 Tablespoons of oil and a small splash of vanilla.  Mix.  Microwave on high (1,000 watts) for 3 minutes.  Cool slightly.

Enjoy!

Birthday Cake for Jesus
What you will need:

Your favorite chocolate cake recipe or chocolate cake mix
Your favorite white cake recipe or white cake mix
White Icing
Red Food Coloring
Green Food Coloring
Candles
Round Cake Pans
Mix chocolate cake, according to recipe, and bake in round cake pan.  Generally, a cake mix will make two round layers.  Use the remaining batter to make cupcakes, if you wish.

Mix white cake, according to recipe.  Divide the batter into two bowls.  Dye the batter in one bowl with red food coloring and the batter in the other bowl with green food coloring and bake the layers according to directions.

To assemble the cake:  The bottom layer is the chocolate layer to signify the darkness of our sin.  The next layer is the red layer, which signifies Jesus' blood that covers our sin.  The top layer is the green layer, which can signify new life in Christ or everlasting life in Christ.  Frost the cake with the white icing, which signifies the purity of Christ that washes us clean from our sin.  Put candles on the cake, which signify that Jesus is the light of the world.  The cake is round, with no beginning and no end, which signifies our eternal life in Christ.

This is the basic recipe.  Feel free to add to it, if you wish.  You could use purple candles or decorations on the cake to signify Christ's royalty or a gold crown to signify that He is the King.

Thanks to Tina who called to say they have personalized the cake by making the bottom layer from their favorite fudge brownie recipe and the second layer from their favorite red velvet cake recipe.  They take this cake to family gatherings and her children share the meanings and message of the cake.

 Laugh Trak of the day

If you listen to Calvary 88-5 and have a great joke, we could use your help. We are enhancing our "Laugh Trak of the Day" to include some of our very funny and talented listeners. If you have a great joke--share it with us.
Here's how....we have a phone line in our studio set up to record phone calls and we'd like you to tell the joke yourself! If it fits---we'll take it, edit it, and play it back over the air!

Here are some things to know:

1) The phone number: (816) 331-6770
2) We are a Christian station--obviously. It must be appropriate for our audience. We always err on the side of caution.
3) It must be funny and in good taste
4) Your audio is subject to editing for length and possible content
5) Sorry, we cannot promise that we will use it.

When you call, use this format:
Hi, I'm (your name--first or first and last)
from (the city you live in)
with today's laugh trak of the day
(tell joke).

It's that simple. We hope to hear from you soon.
